As I spent time reading this scripture something caught my attention that had not before.
The WORD came to John in the wilderness.
The Word didn’t come to John when he was out living his best life. It didn’t come to him when he had it all together. It didn’t come to him at a conference, or when he was holding an important meeting at work, or when there was enough money in his bank account, or when he was sitting in his big house watching a game on TV.
John set himself apart and was eating locusts and honey in the wilderness alone when the Word came to Him.
Maybe you are in your wilderness season. You think it is the worst time in your life and things look bad.
Do you know that the wilderness is the time of preparation?
It seems like an endless season of pain, suffering and lack but God is preparing you for the more.
The wilderness is a place of pause. A place where God has you for such a time to learn and grow and become more spiritually mature, more like Jesus.
He has a plan and a purpose for your life and the next steps require you to be stronger than ever. You have to learn to overcome challenges in the wilderness and it’s a place of testing and trials.
Don’t despise the wilderness. I know it seems hard but take this time to read His Word daily and strengthen yourself with friends or family that will pray for you. Talk to the Lord and lay every burden on his shoulders.
Psalm 66:10-12
For you, O God, have tested us; you have tried us as silver is tried. You brought us into the net; you laid a crushing burden on our backs; you let men ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water and through water; yet you have brought us out to a place with abundance.
Soon enough His plan will unfold and your feet will be in a new territory.
And you will look back and marvel at the wondrous things God had planned for you while you were wondering how you were going to make it out, how rent was going to get paid, how you were going to find another job, how you were going to be healed.
Dear Lord,
I pray every person going through their wilderness season is strengthened Lord. Help them to become spiritually strong and ready to conquer their next season. Keep them safe and protected and I pray they have every provision they need for the journey.
In the mighty name of Jesus.
Amen.
