As I was talking with a trusted mentor she was encouraging me to dream bigger and to really believe that my dreams are possible and to be open and submit to God’s will and purpose for my life.

We were joking that I had reached my “Best By” date.

In America, the Best By date tells you when a food item is going to expire.

My mind flashed to opportunities I had that I didn’t take. Schooling I had yet to finish because in my mind what was the point? I would be working my same job forever. At least those were my thoughts.

But God’s plans are always better than our own plans.

Jer 29:11

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

I had been looking at things from an already defeated mindset.

Somewhere along the way I had quit dreaming and planning.

It’s true. I wasn’t dreaming big enough. I wasn’t even dreaming.

What about you? Are you dreaming big enough? Are you full of dread when you wake up or are you waking up excited for the new day?

Are you submitting to God’s plans and purposes for your life, or are you letting life take you down the wide path, succumbing to what life throws at you?

If you are, it’s okay. I encourage you to get back on track.

It’s not too late.

Take some time with the Lord. No phone, no distractions. Talk to the Lord and let Him speak to you in that still quiet voice.

Write down what thoughts fill your mind, even if they seem silly. What made you happy as a child?

I encourage you to start dreaming today about what your life can look like if you just do one small thing to change it for the better.

Don’t let your “Best By” date expire.

Proverbs 17:22

A merry heart does good, like medicine,
But a broken spirit dries the bones.
