Mark 4:39

And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

Can you imagine the peace that came after Jesus rebuked the storm?

The Bible says there was a “GREAT CALM.”

When I’m sitting outside and the temperature is just right, the breeze is perfect and my dog is sitting on my lap I feel such peace overtake me.

Or when I wake up and the sun is shining and the birds are singing and all seems right in the world.

It’s the peace of Jesus.

Not too long ago I found myself feeling anxious. Anxious about my job, the future, and on and on.

Our world is full of so much negative news. Wars and rumors of wars, spiking gas prices, fuel shortages, layoffs in corporate America…

The world is ever changing and so fast paced.

But when I start to feel overwhelmed in the chaos and when my breaths get shallow I hear Jesus’ words.

Peace! Be still!”

He is our peace. He is our comfort. He is the one true thing we can trust and believe in. He will rebuke the storm and calm the waves. He has done it for me and He will do it for you too.

King Jesus, we give you the storms in our lives. All the what-ifs, the worries, the sadness, the sickness, the finances. And we thank you that you give us the peace that surpasses all understanding. We thank you that you are the One that rights every wrong and with you there is order and not chaos. Thank you for calming every storm in our lives. Thank you for being our Shalom peace always and forever.

Amen.
