I was on a prayer call recently and the host asked me to pray. I was at the store and was looking at some things and had my headphones in, not really expecting to participate in the call. I quickly said a prayer.
Later on, I realized I couldn’t remember what I had said, and am ashamed to say I just sort of meaninglessly had said words.
I’ve realized I’ve gone through life just kinda willy nilly not really having too much of a plan and letting life happen to me.
Be intentional.
Habakkuk 2:2
And the LORD answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it.
Write the vision
I find it really does help to write it down. Journaling, a vision board, whatever it takes for you to remind yourself of your goals and plans in life.
Recently, someone I know just passed her bar exam to become a lawyer. I remember the night she told me she was going to start law school. It took about 4 years and 1 failed exam but today she is an attorney. It doesn’t matter how long it takes just start working on those goals. The time is going to pass anyways.
Matthew 5:37
Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from evil.
I know I like to get excited and make plans, or say “yes” to things that I don’t really want to do.
I’m learning not to overcommit myself or saying “yes” just to make the other person happy.
So start today living your life purposely and with intention. Start with one small goal and start to live a meaningful life, one that can contribute to making our world a bit better.
Remember, actions will follow your words so be intentional with what you speak.
